15 flares have been recorded on the Sun in the last 24 hours, according to the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of IKI and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. For comparison, only six flares were recorded a day earlier.
Most of the events occurred in the new active region 4167, where, according to scientists, “the energy that appeared with it was being burned.” The remaining flares were distributed across the solar disk. Nevertheless, experts note that the growth of sunspots has stopped, and activity is stabilizing.
The surge in activity did not affect the Earth and, according to scientists, was short-lived and localized.
Solar flares can affect radio communications, the operation of satellites and power systems. Regular monitoring allows you to warn in advance about the possible consequences of space weather.
