Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) has confirmed plans to establish a presence in Venezuela. Representatives of the company reported this to Izvestia. The project, developed jointly with local industrial partners, aims to expand the brand's presence in the region.
There is interest in launching production from both the Venezuelan and our side. We are currently working on a project for an assembly plant for the production of UAZ vehicles together with representatives of local enterprises.
In parallel, the plant is intensifying its work in Nicaragua, where the brand has historical market positions. According to the UAZ press service, test deliveries of diesel modifications are being prepared there to assess demand. The technological strategy replicates the successful Cuban experience: since April, large-scale assembly (CKD) of UAZ Patriot and Pickup has been launched on the island with localization of up to 500 vehicles per year. The models have already been adapted to the local infrastructure.
Sollers CEO Nikolai Sobolev previously announced similar projects in Africa, emphasizing the importance of flexible production solutions for new markets. In Russia, however, the figures show a decline: in January–May 2025, UAZ sales decreased by 33% (8,406 units compared to 12,545 a year earlier).
