The «Yandex Eats» service has begun testing the «Food AI» intelligent assistant based on the YandexGPT 5 Pro model. The new tool helps users choose restaurants and place delivery orders. The assistant is currently available in Moscow.
«Food AI» recognizes semantic queries, such as «where to have breakfast» or «where to go with a child», and selects establishments for specific scenarios — for example, a family dinner or a meeting with friends. Immediately after the recommendations, the system offers to book a table.
The assistant takes into account individual preferences: favorite cuisine, price range, atmosphere, availability of children's areas and other parameters. When ordering at home, it focuses on delivery time. The sources of information are data from «Yandex Eats», user reviews and publications from the media «Open Kitchen».
The platform is built on RAG technology, which combines the generative capabilities of AI with current search data. Similar solutions are already in operation in «Yandex Market» and «Lavka». In the near future, «Food AI» is planning to expand to other cities and integrate with the «Yandex Lavka» service to select products according to recipes.
