New technology analyzes the randomness of biometric codes, which can improve protection against hacking

The "Ruselectronics" holding (part of Rostec) together with Penza State University has presented a software solution for assessing the reliability of biometric systems. The development is aimed at identifying vulnerabilities in biometric code generation algorithms used for fingerprint identification, facial recognition, and handwriting analysis.

The key task of the technology is to determine the degree of randomness of the generated codes. The higher the entropy (a measure of uncertainty), the more difficult it is for attackers to pick up or crack a biometric key. The program analyzes the relationships between the elements of the code and calculates its resistance to external influences. The module allows you to check how secure the biometric system is. The solution has already been tested and can be integrated into domestic hardware and software systems. The system can become the basis for operational and stable biometric identification.
