A prototype of an anti-aircraft defense (AAD) system against drones, which finds the target and hits it with buckshot or missiles, has been created in Chelyabinsk. The elements of the complex have been tested, said designer Alexander Rodikov.
According to Rodikov, this is the first such air defense system in Russia. It is designed to protect rear facilities from UAVs (warehouses, arsenals, ports).
At the same time, today in many countries of the world there are no such systems, the development is unique for our country as well.
The designer explained that the development is a rotating turret armed with buckshot shots, guided and unguided missiles. The installation automatically recognizes flying drones of various types by sound.
Then UAVs fall into the field of view of video cameras and are hit by a buckshot shot or a missile. The range of target detection depends on its type.
For example, an airplane-type drone weighing over 300 kg is detected at a distance of at least 1200 m. The detection range of a helicopter-type UAV is at least 150 m. Drones are hit at a distance of up to 500 m.
