Passwords from 5 to 7 characters long can be cracked by hackers in just a few seconds. This was stated by Sergey Golovanov, chief specialist at Kaspersky Lab.
According to him, passwords of 15 characters require significant effort to crack. And sixteen-character passwords with special characters, uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as numbers, are already considered reliable. However, according to Golovanov, convincing company employees to create such passwords is not an easy task.
The expert also pointed out that in the last two decades, one of the most common passwords remains the word "password" and its variations, such as p@rol and par0l.
Golovanov warned that even if the password database is protected, modern computers with powerful video cards can make up to 15 million attempts to guess them per second. Thus, for security, it is important to use long and complex passwords.
