Regular sea passenger transportation on the hydrofoil vessel "Comet 120M" will begin between Sochi and Gelendzhik on June 1. The first voyage will be performed by the high-speed passenger vessel "Cosmonaut Pavel Popovich".
The journey time between the cities will be three and a half hours. The vessel is designed to carry 120 passengers and is capable of speeds exceeding 35 knots. It was built by the Rybinsk plant of JSC "Vympel" with the participation of the "More" shipyard in Feodosia. The acceptance certificate for the vessel was signed on June 27, 2024.
The vessel was named "Cosmonaut Pavel Popovich" in honor of the twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Major General of Aviation, participant in flights on the "Vostok-4" and "Soyuz-14" ships.
The new route will become an important element in the development of the tourist and transport infrastructure of the Black Sea coast.
