China and Europe already have regulations for the use of AI. Russia also needs labeling for products based on neural networks. This was announced by Igor Drozdov, Deputy Chairman of VEB.RF, at the XIII St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
According to him, the use of technical tools to protect against potential dangers associated with the use of artificial intelligence can help prevent threats such as deepfake attacks. These can be photos or videos where a person's appearance or voice has been altered using a neural network.
Drozdov emphasized that modern technologies make it possible to create digital copies of real people that are virtually indistinguishable from the original. This can mislead the victim.
And therefore, it would be absolutely correct to come to the labeling of those products that are created with the help of artificial intelligence or exclusively by artificial intelligence. Such rules exist in China, and the European Union has developed an act on artificial intelligence. In my opinion, this is important.
The Deputy Chairman of VEB.RF believes that data is a key factor for training neural networks. Works protected by copyright are especially important. In his opinion, in such cases, it is necessary to take into account the interests of copyright holders.
Earlier, the Russian government created the Center for the Development of Artificial Intelligence. It will become a project office for the implementation of this technology in key industries. The center will systematize best practices, support developers, and develop computing power.
