In the first quarter of 2025, Russia ranked ninth in the list of countries most attacked by hackers. The number of DDoS attacks on state and commercial organizations in Russia increased by 110% compared to the same period last year. The main targets of the attackers were telecommunications companies, organizations in the financial sector, and government institutions.
In the global ranking, the largest number of attacks was recorded in India (18.1%), China (16.2%), and the USA (14.7%). In Russia, government organizations have become of less interest to hackers. Mainly, attackers target commercial structures in our country, including large banks and other financial institutions, as well as telecom equipment operators. Hackers use attacks through thousands of IP addresses.
Analysts emphasize that DDoS attacks are becoming increasingly complex. They cannot be prevented simply by filtering traffic. Multilayered protection is needed. The situation requires increased attention to cybersecurity, especially in the context of growing attacker activity, cybersecurity experts emphasize.
