The Sun emitted a flare of the penultimate power class M1.3, recorded in region 4063. This occurred on April 22.
On the same day, several flares of the middle class C were recorded. On April 23, one flare of class C was also recorded. This was reported on the website of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of IKI and ISZF.
In addition to the flares, scientists recorded the formation of a giant coronal hole in the southern part of the Sun.
It is not often that you get to see a coronal hole the size of half the Sun being born out of nothing before your very eyes. This is roughly what can be observed in the video. The recording starts on April 12 and ends on April 22 at about 9 p.m. Moscow time.
This hole leads to the formation of fast solar wind streams that pass below the plane of the planets. Currently, the Earth only slightly touches the upper boundary of this coronal hole, but even this impact is enough to cause magnetic storms, albeit of weak intensity.
If the hole starts to grow as quickly not only in width, but also in height, then the Earth will be completely in its "embrace" until the end of the weekend, but for now it is expected that the solar wind flows will begin to weaken as early as Wednesday, April 23, by the end of the day.
Experts continue to monitor the activity of the Sun, as such phenomena can affect the Earth's magnetic field and cause various geophysical effects.
Earlier www1.ru reported that three flares, including one of level M1.9, were registered in a day.
