UAC Announces Full Readiness of Import-Substituted SJ-100 "Superjet" with PD-8 Engines for First Flight

The aircraft is currently undergoing ground tests

The fully import-substituted SJ-100 aircraft with domestic PD-8 engines is ready for its first flight, which will take place before the end of April. This was announced by Oleg Bocharov, First Deputy General Director of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec).

We are on schedule. The aircraft is fully ready. It has been transferred to the flight test station. Ground tests are underway. We are preparing the necessary documents. We are waiting for the weather.

In March, an experimental model of the Superjet SJ-100 with PD-8 engines, but with imported systems, made its first flight. Then, Sergey Chemezov, General Director of Rostec, reported that another fully Russian aircraft with PD-8 engines would join the certification flight tests in April.

Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov stated that the first flight of the fully import-substituted Superjet SJ-100 passenger aircraft will take place on April 25.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the characteristics of the new Russian Tango aircraft, which will be mass-produced no earlier than 2027, have become known.
