T-90A Model 2004 Tank Charging Chambers Unsuitable for "Svinets" Armor-Piercing Shells: Transformed into "Wandering" Guns

Crews are using "Mango" and "Vant" kinetic shells

Russian units have received T-90A main battle tanks of the 2004 model. The combat vehicles are equipped with sighting systems based on Buran-M night vision devices with 3rd generation image intensifier tubes, capable of detecting targets such as BMP tanks at night at a distance of about 1500 m.

At the same time, the tanks are equipped with 2A46M-2 guns, the charging chambers of which are not adapted to the use of 3BM59 "Svinets" and 3BM60 "Svinets-2" armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot projectiles with armor penetration of 730 - 780 mm.

Kinetic shells "Vant" and "Mango" with armor penetration of 560 and 500 mm, respectively, are used at a distance of 2000 m.

This vehicle is mainly used as a "wandering" 125-mm gun, the crew of which operates with high-explosive fragmentation shells ZOF26 from closed positions.
