Oil consumption in Lada engines is provided for by the engine design and cannot be zero, otherwise the power unit will be destroyed. This was stated in the press service of AvtoVAZ.
At the same time, the company clarified that we are talking about the "normal" oil consumption necessary for the full operation of the engine. Basically, oil escapes through valve stem seals and piston rings, as well as the crankcase ventilation system.
AvtoVAZ emphasized that the operational oil consumption is influenced by many factors, including traffic routes, driving style, ambient temperature, oil characteristics and running-in conditions.
If the oil consumption exceeds the norm, then the car owner should contact the service for diagnostics and troubleshooting. Therefore, it is important to regularly check the oil level and not forget about timely replacement.
