The future Lada Iskra has been found to have safety issues. A defect was discovered in the passenger airbag in the front seat, which does not deploy correctly. This was reported by a former AvtoVAZ engineer.
I don't know exactly what happened, as this information was not even brought to the attention of AvtoVAZ's top management, because they had already set a date for mass production and reported to journalists that everything was OK. I only know that the documentation for the 61 GFE group for the car is not ready at all (this is the safety systems group), and a dangerous defect was discovered when the passenger airbag was deployed.
The car's production launch is scheduled for April 19 this year. It is unlikely that problems of this kind will be completely fixed by then. However, the former AvtoVAZ engineer believes that the already approved date for the start of mass production of the Iskra will not be postponed.
