Russian developers strengthen their positions in the virtualization market

The share of domestic software reached 60.2% due to the departure of foreign vendors

Russian software developers for virtualization have significantly increased their market share. Today, they occupy 60.2% of this segment. This was reported to journalists at iKS-Consulting, which prepared the study.

More than a third (39%) of the virtual server market still uses solutions from the American company VMware. However, it is worth noting that since 2021, the share of foreign vendor products has decreased by 28.4 percentage points.

iKS-Consulting emphasizes that since the beginning of 2022, the departure of large international companies and the tightening of requirements from regulators have contributed to the growth of interest in domestic virtualization systems. The share of Russian solutions, such as KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine), increased by 34 percentage points from the end of 2021 to the end of 2024.

These changes indicate a growing confidence in Russian developments and their ability to compete in the virtualization market.

It should be recalled that virtualization allows you to create virtual versions of computers and servers on one physical device, which simplifies management and resource optimization.
