Moscow has become the European leader in the number of electric vehicles. In total, more than 2,300 Russian-made electric buses have been brought to the capital since 2018. This was announced by the head of the Moscow Department of Transport, Maxim Liksutov.
Currently, environmentally friendly transport operates on more than 180 routes (over 20% of all routes in the capital). By 2035, almost the entire Mosgortrans fleet will run on electric traction.
Since 2018, electric buses have carried 650 million passengers. On an average weekday, they are used more than 900,000 times.
In 2021, the assembly of electric buses for Moscow was established on the territory of the Sokolnichesky вагоноремонтно-строительный завод (SVARZ, owned by PJSC "KAMAZ"). Empty painted bodies — gliders — are brought here from Neftekamsk. In total, 530 electric buses have been assembled at SVARZ.
