Huge cloud of solar plasma flies towards Earth: what are the threats

The arrival of cosmic substance to the planet is possible on the night of February 27-28

A magnetic storm from the impact on Earth by a cloud of solar plasma, ejected after the M3.6 flare, is possible in the next two days, but it will not be extreme. This was reported by the press service of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI RAS and ISZF SB RAS.

The day before, an M3.6 class flare occurred on the Sun, which was accompanied by an ejection of solar plasma towards the Earth. The Russian Academy of Sciences noted that the arrival of part of the plasma to Earth is possible on the night of February 27-28.

A marginal touch in any case cannot be the source of extreme events, and the worst of the forecast branches contains storms of no more than the second level on a five-point scale.

Solar flares, depending on the power of X-ray radiation, are divided into five classes: A, B, C, M and X. The minimum class A0.0 corresponds to a radiation power at the Earth's orbit of 10 nanowatts per square meter. When moving to the next letter, the power increases by 10 times.

Earlier www1.ru reported that three powerful flares of the penultimate class occurred on the Sun on February 25.
