An important stage in the construction of the RSD59ARC project multi-purpose Arctic-class dry cargo vessel has been completed at the Oka Shipyard — the installation of the main engine. This dry cargo vessel is the lead vessel in a series being built for the Baltic Shipping Company. The vessel was laid down on December 30, 2023.
RSD59ARC project dry cargo vessels are equipped with Ice3 ice class, which will allow them to be used on the Northern Sea Route from June to October. It is planned that 13 vessels will be built under the state program with the participation of the National Welfare Fund for operation in the Arctic waters.
The construction of the vessels is carried out within the framework of a larger program, the total cost of which will be more than 22 billion rubles. The first RSD59ARC project dry cargo vessels are to be delivered in 2025.
