TEP70BS diesel locomotive to undergo certification tests at the Kolomna plant

TEP70BS is designed for the DP2D diesel train

The first TEP70BS passenger diesel locomotive for the DP2D diesel train is being prepared for certification tests. The first stage of testing will take place at the Kolomna plant (part of TMH). Experts will assess the ergonomics and microclimate of the driver's cab, the dimensions of the locomotive and its environmental safety, and will also conduct weighing.

The DP2D diesel train will consist of a TEP70BS diesel locomotive and modified non-motor cars of the EP2DM electric train, which are produced at the Demikhovsky Engineering Plant in Orekhovo-Zuevo near Moscow. This train will allow organizing comfortable passenger transportation on non-electrified railway lines, providing flexibility in routes with variable passenger traffic.

To create the new diesel train, specialists have refined the design of both the locomotive and the cars. The train control functions in the TEP70BS control cab and the head car from the electric train are fully duplicated. Red signal lights are installed on the front of the locomotive, which are necessary to indicate the passenger train when the head car is moving forward and the locomotive is at the rear of the train.

The locomotive has an improved control system - blocks of a monitoring and control device and control of electric train doors are installed, a display is placed for displaying diagnostic information and information from the video surveillance system. The TEP70BS received a new passenger notification and communication system, as well as additional inter-car connections for transmitting control circuit and diagnostic signals from the locomotive to the cars and back, a switch and a connector for the Ethernet communication line.

The speed of the new train will be 120 km/h. New functional solutions allow using the locomotive both as part of a diesel train and as a traction unit at the head of a passenger train. If necessary, the locomotive will be able to move without cars or work in multiple with another locomotive using a two-unit system.

TEP70BS passenger diesel locomotives have been produced at the Kolomna plant since 2002.

Earlier www1.ru reported that a TEP70BS passenger diesel locomotive with an automatic diesel start system was supplied to Russian Railways.
