The Russian aircraft engine PD-14 consists of six thousand parts. This was reported by the press service of the United Engine Corporation (UEC).
The company emphasized that each aircraft engine is a high-tech product in which all elements ensure its reliable operation and flight safety of aircraft passengers. The development and production of modern engines ensures the technological sovereignty of the country in the aviation industry.
Each stage of manufacturing aircraft engine parts is under constant control by UEC specialists. For example, a bevel gear is used in the gearbox and must withstand high loads. With the help of classical machining on domestic machines, the workpiece is transformed into a perfect part.
It is known that the PD-14 weighs 2,870 kg and has a thrust of 14 thousand kgf in take-off mode. The engine can provide a flight range of up to 5.1 thousand kilometers, but in the future it may grow to 7 thousand kilometers. The specific fuel consumption in cruise mode (kg/kgf · h), according to the developers, is 10-15% better than analogues from other manufacturers, but the specific fuel consumption figure is not specified.
PD-14 is the first domestic serial engine for medium-range aircraft. The unit will be used on the new MC-21 aircraft.
