AvtoVAZ rejected about 21,000 electromechanical power steering systems (EPS) manufactured by the Kaluga-based company Avtoelectronica JSC due to design changes.
The company has been producing power steering systems for AvtoVAZ since 2006 (Lada Priora). The production of EPS for Lada Granta started in 2012, and for Lada Vesta in 2023.
The volume of the rejected batch exceeds 5% of annual supplies, which is considered an abnormally high figure. AvtoVAZ's official representative, Sergei Ilyinsky, noted that the auto giant closely monitors the quality of components and blocks substandard batches if necessary.
At the same time, the rejection will not lead to a halt in the production line at AvtoVAZ, which will use alternative suppliers, such as Itelma Group, for Lada Vesta.
