Rosstat reported that in 2024, industrial production in Russia increased by 4.6%. The main factor, as in the year before last, was the manufacturing industry. It grew by 8.5%.
Mining decreased by 0.9%. The electricity, gas and steam sector showed an increase of 2.3%, and slight changes were observed in water supply (-0.1%).
In December 2024, the growth rate of industrial production accelerated significantly, reaching 8.2% compared to the same period of the year before last. The manufacturing sector in the last month of the outgoing year showed a record growth of 14%. This is a significant improvement compared to 7.1% in November 2024.
The main contribution to the growth of manufacturing industries in 2024 was made by the machine-building complex. It accounted for almost 40% of the total increase. The highest growth rates were observed in the production of finished metal products (+35%), other vehicles (+29.6%), computers, electronic and optical products (+28.8%).
Among the key products, the largest increase was recorded in the production of radio equipment (+66%), workwear (+60%) and passenger cars (+39%). In the field of food, the production of biologically active additives (+20.5%) and sunflower oil (+12%) increased.
