Rostec to present the latest PD-8 engine for the SJ-100 airliner at the Moscow exhibition: the future of Russian aviation

The turbofan engine was developed using the latest domestic materials and advanced technologies

The United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of the Rostec State Corporation) will present power plants for medium-range and regional aircraft, as well as advanced helicopters at the NAIS-2025 civil aviation infrastructure exhibition in Moscow, which will be held on February 5-6.

The premiere of the forum will be the PD-8 engine for the SJ-100 airliner. Leading enterprises of the Russian aviation industry were involved in its development and production.

The PD-8 turbofan engine was created at ODK-Saturn using the latest domestic materials and advanced technologies, including 3D printing. The experience of creating a more powerful PD-14 engine was used in the development of the power plant. To speed up certification, the PD-8 used computer modeling results.

Only a few countries in the world are capable of building their own aircraft engines, and Russia is one of them. In the near future, we expect the PD-8 to take to the skies for the first time as part of the passenger SJ-100 to pass the final stage — flight tests.
Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy General Director of Rostec

The exhibition will also feature the PD-14 engine for the MS-21 medium-range passenger aircraft and the TV7-117ST-01 for the Il-114-300 turboprop regional aircraft. In addition, the VK-1600V engine for medium-class helicopters with a take-off weight of 5-8 tons is presented at the stand.
