Kia recalls nearly 30,000 cars in Russia: cars may catch fire due to a malfunction

The company announced the recall of over 29,000 Kia Sportage crossovers and over 700 Quoris sedans

Kia Russia & CIS has announced the recall of over 29,000 Kia Sportage (Sle) crossovers sold in Russia from 2014 to 2016, and over 700 Quoris sedans sold from 2015 to 2018, Rosstandart reported.

29,141 Kia Sportage (Sle) vehicles sold between 2014 and 2016 with VIN codes according to the appendix are subject to recall. Reason for recalling vehicles: the electrical circuit of the ABS/ESC unit may short circuit in some cases, which will lead to an excessive increase in current and may increase the risk of fire in the engine compartment.

Rosstandart reported that the fuse box covers and ABS multi-fuses will be replaced on all vehicles.

The company is also recalling 729 Kia Quoris sedans manufactured from 2015 to 2018. The problem is related to the ESC stabilization system, which may manifest itself as a lit malfunction light. Two ESC fuses will be replaced on all vehicles and the correct stickers will be affixed to the fuse box cover.

Kia Russia & CIS will notify owners of vehicles subject to recall. You can check for free on the Rosstandart website whether their vehicle is subject to recall. If the car is on the "list", then you do not need to wait for a notification from the dealer - just come to the nearest service for free repairs.
