Russia Extends Service Life of 1976 Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles

UR-100N UTTKh ICBMs have been in service for 49 years

Russia has extended the service life of UR-100N UTTKh intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), and they continue to be on combat duty. This was announced by Alexander Leonov, General Director and General Designer of NPO Mashinostroyenia.

This work is extremely important. We are continuing this work. It is proceeding as normal. The entire program is being implemented. We work annually to extend the service life of these ICBMs for each year.

Leonov reminded that these ICBMs have been in service for 49 years, so it is necessary to carefully check their technical condition.

UR-100N UTTKh is a medium-class missile weighing 105 tons with a firing range of 10,000 km. The missile has a large warhead mass, the throw-weight is about 4.5 tons.
