Евросоюз решил запретить поставки консолей Xbox и PlayStation в Россию

The EU believes Russia is using game consoles for military purposes

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, has proposed banning the supply of Xbox and PlayStation game consoles to Russia. The politician claims that the consoles are used to control non-civilian drones.

The new EU restrictions are planned to be introduced on February 22. They will be included in the 16th package of anti-Russian sanctions.

All major console manufacturers — Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft — have suspended sales in Russia. Their products are imported into the country through parallel import.

The head of the Russian Association of Distributors and Importers of Video Games, Yasha Khaddaji, noted that the game consoles entering Russia do not even pass in transit through the European Union.

Therefore, this statement either demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of the video game industry, or is another empty gesture.
