The Russian artificial intelligence (AI) market in healthcare is actively developing, but is still in the formation stage. Its volume is expected to reach 15-17 billion rubles by the end of 2024.
AI is used for analyzing medical images, supporting medical decision-making, diagnosing diseases, and developing new drugs. Approximately 72% of registered medical devices with artificial intelligence are aimed at image analysis. In the future, the use of technologies in diagnostics and treatment is expected to expand, including endoscopy, dermatoscopy, and other methods.
In 2023, the market was supported by government subsidies and grants, including a project to create a unified digital circuit based on the Unified State Health Information System (EGISZ).
According to the national strategy, by 2030, each region of the Russian Federation should have at least 12 AI services.
The main problems are a lack of investment, difficulties with certification, and a shortage of clinical trials confirming the effectiveness of AI in medicine. However, experts are confident that artificial intelligence will play an important role in increasing life expectancy and early diagnosis of diseases.
