Russian Kornet anti-tank missile systems (ATGMs) have demonstrated their exceptional qualities in combat conditions. The most powerful version is considered to be the 9M133M-2 modification, which has improved tactical and technical characteristics compared to the basic model.
Kornet is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 8000 meters and penetrating armor up to 1300 mm. The weight of the missile in the transport and launch container is 31 kg.
This is enough to destroy Leopard 2A4/A6 and M1А1 Abrams Challenger 2 tanks by hitting the frontal projection of the hull with a protection thickness of up to 920 and 970 mm, respectively.
Additional dynamic protection is installed on Western armored vehicles, but it will also not be a problem for the tandem-cumulative warhead of the 9M133M-2 missile.
