В Сочи создадут первую в России частную сотовую сеть для аэропорта

Sochi Airport invests 61.5 million rubles in mobile broadband access based on private LTE technology

Sochi Airport has announced plans to create a private cellular network for mobile broadband access, which will be the first LTE network built specifically for an airport.

Currently, the airport is looking for a contractor to develop this private network based on private LTE (pLTE) technology. Information about the corresponding purchase is available on the public procurement portal.

The airport intends to invest 61.5 million rubles in the project. The new network is necessary for efficient data exchange at the airport's industrial sites. The allocated funds will be used to create a radio access network, a control center, as well as to purchase equipment and lay fiber-optic or radio relay communication lines.

Experts emphasize that building a private LTE cellular network at the airport is a novelty for Russia, as most airports in the country currently use public LTE networks.

Leonid Konik, CEO of ComNews Group, noted that since critical processes are tied to the communication network at the airport, it must operate around the clock and without failures, which makes it impossible to rely on public cellular or other telecommunications networks.
