The Moscow Production Association "Metallist" has developed the bionic knee module "Comet", designed for prosthesis users with different levels of motor activity.
The microprocessor built into the prosthesis analyzes data in real time, predicting the rhythm and pattern of walking, which makes it possible to use the prosthesis for various types of activity — from a calm step to a light run. This technology even allows you to wear high heels and dance, which has become a revolutionary step in the field of prosthetics.
Specialists from "Metallist" demonstrated how the bionic prosthesis provides a smooth gait and freedom of movement. Tester Olga Liverova, who has used more than 30 different prostheses in her life, noted that "Comet" is one of the most technologically advanced. She emphasized that with this prosthesis she can not only walk and use public transport, but also dance or ski.
The prosthesis uses a complex microprocessor that allows you to adapt the user's movements and activity level. At the same time, despite the presence of imported components, the company is actively working on localizing production.
The bionic knee module "Comet" includes polymers and metals, such as carbon fiber and Kevlar for lightness and strength, as well as titanium or nickel alloys for flexibility and shape memory. One of the main achievements of Russian engineers is their own hydraulics. The company has been working for a long time to create safe and reliable hydraulic cylinders and other important elements, which has significantly improved the quality of products.
