The First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Denis Manturov, expressed the opinion that the country currently has the optimal number of automobile plants.
According to him, when the Russian car market reached a peak of 3 million cars, production capacities were created to match this level. In this regard, Manturov believes that the number of car plants in the country is currently optimal.
He reported that by the end of 2024, the car market and production in Russia are expected to grow by 30-40%. Car sales are projected to be about 1.8 million units, and production is projected to be about 980 thousand units.
Manturov noted that there are currently no problems with capacity utilization in the Russian machine tool industry. The growing demand for equipment and automation in the civil and defense sectors has stimulated the launch of new production solutions, including developments created since 2008.
