Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government and Sberbank to establish cooperation with China in the field of artificial intelligence research.
The list of instructions announced at the conference "Journey to the World of Artificial Intelligence" was published on the Kremlin website.
The Government of the Russian Federation, together with the public joint-stock company "Sberbank of Russia", shall ensure further cooperation with the People's Republic of China in conducting technological research and development in the field of artificial intelligence.
A report on the implementation of the order must be submitted to the president by April 30, 2025. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Sberbank head German Gref have been appointed responsible for the implementation.
Earlier, during a meeting of the Valdai Club in November last year, Vladimir Putin stated that artificial intelligence (AI) has become an important tool for development. He noted the importance of creating sovereign AI. The politician expressed confidence that Russia can take a leading position in this area.
