Pouring the first concrete into the foundation of the reactor compartment will mark the beginning of the construction of a new power unit. This event is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2025.

Let us remind you that at the end of 2014, Russia and Hungary signed an agreement on the construction of new power units No. 5 and No. 6 (Paks-2 NPP). For these purposes, Moscow will provide Budapest with a state loan of up to 10 billion euros. The total cost of work is 12.5 billion euros. A license for the construction of power units has already been issued.

It should be noted that Hungary has the only nuclear power plant - Paks. It is located 100 kilometers from Budapest. The station produces almost half of all electricity in Hungary. With the commissioning of new units (Paks-2), this share is expected to double. This will have a positive impact on the country's energy security.
