The state of the Superjet 100 fleet was discussed at Rosaviatsiya at a meeting with operators of these domestic short-haul aircraft and the new General Director of the United Aircraft Corporation (PJSC "UAC", part of the Rostec State Corporation), Vadim Badeha.
According to the press service of Rosaviatsiya, 154 such aircraft are currently commercially transporting passengers, and their maintenance is carried out by specialists from 29 organizations.
The history of commercial operation of the SSJ-100 spans 13 years, which is significantly less than that of medium-range foreign Airbus and Boeing aircraft. However, according to the management of Rosaviatsiya, the Russian aircraft is no worse and provides worthy competition. In 2023, these aircraft, based in Russian airlines, transported 9.4 million people, or about 9% of the total passenger traffic in Russia.
Whatever they say, the Superjet is a really good machine. Its intensity of operation is comparable to Western counterparts. Superjet aircraft will be operated and transport our citizens for many years. The industry and carriers need to think about effectively supporting the Superjet in operation for a long time to come. We will solve this and many other tasks in the interests of Russians exclusively through joint efforts.
Also, for the meeting, Rosaviatsiya specialists analyzed the flight safety of the Superjet 100 in commercial civil aviation. In January-November 2024, the number of incidents due to aircraft equipment failures on this type of aircraft decreased by 2.5% compared to January-November 2023. At the same time, the number of Superjet 100 flights, according to the State Air Traffic Management Corporation, increased by 19.5% during this period: to 134.4 thousand. As a result, one incident due to aircraft equipment failure accounted for 22% more flights than in January-November 2023.
Earlier, Rosaviatsiya reported on the increase in the number of aviation incidents in 2024, with the largest increase occurring in helicopter flights. According to the agency, despite this, Russia is in the global trend in ensuring flight safety.
The agency has not yet announced exact figures for 2024. However, it is known that in 2023, from January to November, Rosaviatsiya registered 670 aviation incidents on Russian territory. Of these, 400 cases occurred due to aircraft equipment and engine failures.
