Bryansk Machine-Building Plant (BMZ) has started developing the TE26 diesel locomotive, according to the company's CEO, Alexander Poprugin.
We are currently working on the TE26 main-line single-section freight and passenger diesel locomotive. It is designed to provide transportation on low-traffic sections with the ability to drive freight and passenger trains and work with special equipment.
The TE26 locomotive is planned to be used in shunting and removal operations. Detailed characteristics of the new model have not yet been disclosed.
By 2026, a new model of the main-line freight diesel locomotive, the 3TE30G, which will run on liquefied natural gas (LNG), should also be ready. The production of this diesel locomotive is also planned at BMZ.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that BMZ will launch serial production of TEM23 diesel locomotives.
