Russian military personnel have equipped the Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) with a mobile structure that protects the vehicle from kamikaze drones. This refers to a double-leaf anti-drone canopy that covers the upper hemisphere of the Strela in the stowed position.
In combat position, the lattice "barbecue" is folded back so that it does not limit the mobility of the launcher with four anti-aircraft missiles.
Previously, electronic warfare systems were enough to combat drones, but now all means are used to protect against drones, including the use of small arms and camouflage.
The basic version of the Strela entered service back in 1976. The vehicle on the chassis of the MT-LB tracked transporter carries four missiles on a launcher. Initially, the complex was developed to combat helicopters and low-flying aircraft, but in modern conditions, Strelas are used to combat drones.
