The American CDN company Cloudflare has released its latest report for 2024, which provides an analysis of search traffic. According to the report, Yandex ranks second among search engines in the world with a share of 3.1%. Google remains the leader. According to Cloudflare statistics, compared to 2023, the Russian search engine increased its share in the global market.
Cloudflare uses the Referer header to collect traffic data, which allows them to obtain information about which search engines are directing traffic to their clients' websites and applications. This data helps to better understand global internet trends, including those related to devices and operating systems.
In total, Google remains the dominant search engine across all operating systems with a share of 88.5%, while other search engines such as Yandex (3.1%), Baidu (2.7%) and Bing (2.6%) occupy a smaller portion of the market.
The press service of Yandex commented on the data on the growth of the search engine's share. It is emphasized that in Q3 2024, Yandex's share among search engines in Russia amounted to 65.51%, which is 2.9 percentage points more compared to last year. This is a record increase since 2015.
Yandex stated that this growth was achieved through improved search services, including search for goods, medical and financial services. The search engine added new thematic blocks to the search results, which made the output more informative.
In addition, the company is actively developing its products based on neural networks. In the spring of 2024, a new product, Neuro, was introduced, which gives the user one accurate answer to their request, using all available knowledge from the Internet. In the fall of 2024, such instant answers began to appear directly in the search results.
The growth in the number of users of the mobile application and Yandex Browser also had a positive impact on the growth of Yandex's share. In 2024, Yandex also actively developed in Kazakhstan, where the Neuro service was launched with support for national languages.
