American drones may soon appear on the front to intercept aerial targets - Hitchhiker. Their main purpose is to intercept Russian strike drones Geran-2, Lancet-3, Gerber, Orlan-30 and ZALA 421-16E HD.
The system developers are confident that a specialized interceptor drone is able to effectively combat such targets. At the same time, in economic terms, it will be much more profitable than traditional SAMs and SAM systems. The interceptor UAV is equipped with a pair of 5.45 / 5.56-mm machine guns integrated into the wing extensions with ammunition of 30 - 50 rounds.
To counter Hitchhiter drones, Geran-2 UAVs should be equipped with small-sized laser-beam optoelectronic countermeasures systems, or retractable turret flamethrower modules. Hitchhiter drones also pose a threat to Lancet-3 and Gerber kamikaze drones, as well as Orlan-30 and ZALA 421-16E HD UAVs.
