The crew of the "4++" generation fighter-bomber Su-34NVO delivered a high-precision strike with a gliding modification of the FAB-1500M-54 aerial bomb on the front line. Military expert Evgeny Damantsev explained the effectiveness of this tactic for destroying fortifications and armored vehicles.
According to him, the point is the presence of a "blunt-nosed" aerodynamic fairing adapted for use from the internal armament bays of long-range bombers.
The new version of the gliding UAB was equipped with a specialized aerodynamic fairing to ensure a range of 45+ km in gliding mode.
Characteristics of FAB-1500 M-54:
- Length — 2765 mm
- Diameter — 630 mm
- Stabilizer span — 792 mm (with over-caliber slats)
- Application altitude — up to 16000 m
