According to Sberbank, about 3.5 billion lines of personal information are in the public domain, and this includes data of about 90% of the adult population of Russia. This was stated at the SOC forum by Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank.
According to Kuznetsov, at the end of 2023 and at the beginning of 2024, the main source of data leaks were online stores and medical institutions. At the same time, 2023 was the peak of leaks, in 2024 the situation began to change for the better, but, nevertheless, they continue.
At one point, somewhere around February–March, we recorded a peak in phone calls. They amounted to about 20 million attempts to call Russian citizens per day. Such a surge in telephone fraud has never been recorded. Now this figure has decreased to about 6–6.5 million calls per day.
The calls have become more professional, and the scammers' " разводки " more sophisticated. At the same time, not only citizens of Russia suffer, but also the country's economy.
The leakage or theft of funds, unfortunately, has an increasing trend. And, according to our estimates, this year we can expect the theft of money from Russian citizens to be about 250 billion rubles. By the way, the damage to the Russian economy from all these attacks that were in both 2023 and 2024 in the context of cyber warfare also has certain figures — and they are not small. According to our data, this damage may reach about a trillion rubles by the end of the year if the situation does not change.
Hackers, according to Roskomnadzor, have indeed begun to hit Russian databases less often, but at the same time, it seems that information leaks have become more powerful. According to statistics from cybersecurity specialists from F.A.С.С.T., in the first nine months of 2024, 210 databases with data from clients of Russian companies were published on underground Internet forums and in thematic Telegram channels.
This is more than in the same period of 2023 by 37.25%: then only 153 databases were leaked. At the same time, the number of compromised records in 2024 increased by 7.76%: to 250.5 million lines.
