Интернет-мошенники активизировались перед «чёрной пятницей» в России

Phishing remains one of the most popular ways to deceive during the sales season

World Shopping Day, celebrated on November 11, is gradually becoming popular in Russia as well. Buyers are waiting for "Black Friday" with their wallets ready, but fraudsters are also looking forward to it. MegaFon has recorded the activity of Internet fraudsters before the sales season.

In anticipation of the month of discounts, MegaFon's security solutions recorded an increase of almost a third in the number of attempts to lead subscribers to malicious resources. This dynamic already exceeds user activity on marketplaces, where traffic, although higher than average by 13%, has not yet reached its peak values.

During the sales period, fraudsters continue to use phishing as one of the most popular methods of deception. They create websites that mimic popular brands and trick users into entering their data. In this way, they obtain accounts, passwords, credit card numbers and other personal information.

MegaFon's security solutions track such sites. If a user tries to visit a phishing site, the system will automatically warn them of the danger. On average, such warnings are displayed more than 360 thousand times a month. However, since the end of October, the number of such warnings has increased by 27%.

In addition to phishing, attackers use other methods to deceive Russians. For example, they can discover accounts with outdated registration data, gain access to them, make purchases, paying for them with a linked card, and even apply for installments.

Earlier, the police uncovered a "updated" fraudulent scheme "Mammoth". Now, fraudsters do not ask to enter bank card details on a phishing site. Instead, they offer to install a mobile application of the classifieds service, which allegedly provides a secure transaction. To do this, they use a hidden spyware program.
