Engineers from the Grozny-based "Tallamho" design bureau have developed the "Firefly" IR (infrared) radiation detector and the "Pyramid" IR direction finder. The equipment is designed to protect against anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) and man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) with laser guidance, according to the design bureau.
A test batch of sensors and direction finders will be sent to Russian military personnel for use in combat. According to a specialist from "Tallamho", the "Firefly" is a portable device that can be worn on the chest. The "Pyramid" is recommended for placement on transport.
The principle of operation of the equipment is that the sensor and direction finder detect IR radiation and alert the military personnel with a signal. At the same time, the price of the "Firefly" and "Pyramid" is much lower than that of analogues.
