Two Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers performed a scheduled flight near the western coast of Alaska over the neutral waters of the Bering Sea.
Fighter escort was provided by crews of Su-30SM and Su-35S aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, the flight duration was more than 11 hours.
The Russian Ministry of Defense noted that Russian aircraft regularly fly over the waters of the North Atlantic, the Arctic, the Baltic and Black Seas, as well as the Pacific Ocean. All flights are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.
Tu-95 (NATO classification - Bear) is a strategic bomber-missile carrier. It is designed to destroy important targets in remote military-geographical areas and in the deep rear of continental theaters of war with conventional and nuclear weapons.
