Serial production of the first domestic heavy naval drone "Vizir" has started in Russia. It is controlled by artificial intelligence, without operator intervention.
The developer of the novelty is the KMZ holding (Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant). The drone can conduct reconnaissance, deliver cargo and carry guided weapons on board.
We have a significant speed advantage over foreign counterparts. There is also the possibility of working with small arms on the basis of an electrically stabilized platform. And given the multi-channel control system, the functionality can be expanded more and more. We are talking about many hundreds of units per year. If necessary, we can additionally continue to increase productivity further.
"Vizir" is a reusable drone. After a certain time or after passing predetermined coordinates, it returns to the starting point. Danilenko emphasized that all components in the drone are of domestic production - from the control system to the engine.
KMZ also stated that up to eight launchers are planned to be placed on board the"Vizir". The missile itself is a simple and cheap product costing about 500 thousand rubles.
