Птица высокого полета: МиГ-31БМ обнаружит американский ракетоносец B-1B за 300 км

The aircraft is a multifunctional combat unit effectively interacting with air defense systems

The latest modifications of MiG-31BM interceptor fighters are on combat duty with the Russian Aerospace Forces. Military expert Evgeny Damantsev revealed the combat qualities of the aircraft.

He recalled that the fighters are equipped with Zaslon-AM airborne radar systems, capable of detecting targets with an RCS of 3 m² at a distance of up to 320 km against an open space and 170 km against the background of the earth's surface. A B-1B missile carrier operating in low-altitude mode can be detected at a distance of about 150 km, at high altitude - up to 300 km.

Tactical cruise missiles such as the JASSM-ER with an RCS of 0.02 sq. m can be detected at a distance of about 60 - 70 km against the background of the earth's surface.

The Zaslon-M radar, updated for the MiG-31BM, made it possible to detect air targets at a distance of up to 320 km and engage them at a distance of up to 280 km. With the help of the new radar, the pilot can track up to 10 targets simultaneously and engage 6 targets with missiles at once. Zaslon-M was developed by the V.V. Tikhomirov Scientific Research Institute of Instrument Engineering, which is part of the Radioelectronic Technologies Concern of Rostec.

The MiG-31K modification is capable of carrying the Kinzhal hypersonic missile, an aviation analogue of the Iskander. It is noteworthy that at the moment there are practically no targets equivalent in parameters for such a missile.

Earlier, footage of a devastating Iskander-M strike on the Western M270 MLRS MLRS appeared online. The circular probable deviation of the 9M723-1 missile did not exceed 17 meters.
