The new small missile ship of project 22800 "Amur" has been accepted into the Russian Navy. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The solemn ceremony took place in Kaspiysk under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, the St. Andrew's flag was raised on the "Amur".
The event dedicated to the acceptance of the new ship into the Navy was attended by the Head of the Naval Shipbuilding Department of the Navy, Rear Admiral Ilyas Shigapov, General Director of the Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation Renat Mistakhov, representatives of the Caspian Flotilla, the Main Command of the Navy, and representatives of the administration of Dagestan.
From this moment on, another ship stands up to defend the national interests of our great Motherland. Ships of the "Karakurt" type, designed by engineers of the Central Marine Design Bureau "Almaz", embody the power of strike weapons and high seaworthiness. They will make a significant contribution to strengthening combat readiness, operating as part of the surface component of the Navy.
Despite the formal classification as a "small corvette", the ships of the "Karakurt" project are comparable in firepower to the "frigate" class.
Ships of this project are capable of gaining and maintaining dominance in a limited maritime area, as well as delivering high-precision missile strikes against critical ground targets deep within enemy territory.
Each of them carries a universal shipborne firing complex for eight "Caliber-NK" missiles.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian Su-24 "Fencers" performed bombing. The strikes during the exercises were carried out with the execution of simple and complex types of maneuvers from medium and low altitudes
