The State Duma proposed installing "flutes" on motorcycles

This is how deputies want to combat the loud exhaust sound

Sergey Mironov, Chairman of the "Fair Russia – For Truth" party, wrote a letter to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vladimir Kolokoltsev. In it, the official proposes changing the rules of the road and obliging motorcyclists to use special inserts in mufflers in the city, which are called "flutes."

Despite the existing rules, motorcyclists often make changes to the design of motorcycles, as a result of which the exhaust sound becomes much louder than the standard.

He emphasizes that the noise level after installing "flutes" is reduced to 65 decibels. In addition, the politician draws attention to the fact that many install such devices voluntarily.

The owner of the BikeYou motorcycle school, Anton Chibisov, believes that Mironov's idea will not solve the problem of loud exhaust. According to him, the noise is mainly made by pit bikes. These are mini-motorcycles that are considered sports equipment. They don't even need to be registered.

If the proposed amendments are made to the traffic rules, this will not solve the problem, since pit bike drivers do not obey the rules.
