New antioxidants have been found at Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU). This was reported by the university's press service.
The discovered compounds will protect cells from oxidative stress. This will help in the fight against cancer, diabetes, and aging.
Oxidative stress is associated with reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS), which contain unpaired electrons and are radicals. Although they play an important role in signal transduction within cells, excessive accumulation of radicals can damage the body.
To search for new compounds, scientists used chemical and biological test systems based on erythrocytes. More than 200 substances were synthesized. Among them, new antioxidants were discovered.
The research results will allow the creation of new medicines and cosmetic products with new substances in their composition.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Russian scientists learned to remove tumors using electromagnetic radiation.
