Crews of the world's fastest turboprop serial missile carriers, the Tu-95MS of the Far Eastern Aviation Regiment of Long-Range Aviation (stationed in the Amur Region), practiced in-flight refueling. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Aerial refueling is a necessary element in the training of long-range aviation pilots, allowing them to significantly increase the combat radius of action and perform tasks as intended at a great distance from their bases.

More than 10 crews took part in the exercises, practicing piloting techniques and air navigation during the day and at night. The pilots refueled at an altitude of over 5.5 thousand meters at a speed of over 550 km/h. In addition, the engineering and technical staff worked out tasks to prepare aircraft for re-departure.

The press service of the defense department added that more than 5 Tu-95MS and Il-78 aircraft were involved in the scheduled flights.

The Tu-95MS strategic missile carrier (NATO codification: Bear) is part of Russia's nuclear triad. The aircraft was developed by engineers of JSC "Tupolev" as a carrier of long-range strategic aviation cruise missiles. The Tu-95MS is designed to solve the tasks of destroying the most important targets in remote military-geographical areas.
