Under the knife: American ATACMS guidance system falls into the hands of Russian specialists

Russian specialists are studying the guidance and flight correction system of ATACMS missiles

The US-made ATACMS tactical missile has fallen into the hands of Russian specialists. They have begun studying the guidance and flight correction systems.

On the guidance system module of the ATACMS warhead, specialists discovered three laser ring gyroscopes. Thanks to them, the missile is kept on a tuned ballistic trajectory.

In addition, there is a GPS antenna, which corrects the missile on the primary and final sections of the ballistic trajectory.

Now, specialists will be able to study the operation of the missile's systems throughout the entire flight, as well as its course correction capabilities.

ATACMS is an operational-tactical ballistic missile developed by the American company Lockheed Martin. It can be launched from various multiple launch rocket systems, including the M142 HIMARS.

Earlier, www1.ru wrote that Rostec specialists studied another military trophy — the American M1A1M Abrams tank.
